Applause for Galliano!!!!
Yesterday Lady Gaga released her new music video "Applause" I have to admit I am obsessed with this song, only hearing it for the first time yesterday I have probably listened to it about 40 times the video view counter on you tube is currently at 8.2 million views so apparently I am not the only one watching it over and over HAHA.
I was so happy that towards the end of the video I spotted Gaga in the finale dress from John Galliano A/W 2009 with even a reference to the runway show by being in a light tunnel with glitter snow.
John Galliano A/W 2009 show is one of my all time favorite fashion shows of all time. Its up there with Alexander McQueen A/W 2008 (there are actually a few McQueen shows on my top list) and Chanel Metiers d'Art 2012/2013

It Came From The Deep!!!!
Last summer whilst on holiday I took a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, little did I know that this visit would be my inspiration for my final year project at the Glasgow School of Art. In our final year we are allowed to get our inspiration from any source (usually we are set a source such as geometric shapes in architecture or florals etc) but we were given free range of what we want to do. Up until this point I was looking at grand interiors, with visits to Inveraray Castle in Scotland and the Palace of Versailles in France, I had also planed a visit to Hearst Castle in California to further this research, but my visit to Monterey Aquarium changed everything.
Oh the sights I saw......................................................
Oh the sights I saw......................................................
Luminous Sea Anemones
Luminous coral
Luminous Jellyfish
JellyFish
Giant Sea Anemone
Jellyfish Tentacles
Purple Jellyfish
A lonely shell
Mix of Sea Anemones
Moon Jellyfish
A sea of jellyfish
I was so inspired by the shapes the textures and the colours, this caused me to scrap my original theme of grand interiors, and I think you can all see why.
There are more photos to come I didn't want to fill one post :)

The other day I got a little surprise from my Mum and Dad. A very early birthday present.
I cannot wait till I wear this :)
Spare Time at the Festival of Quilts
Last week I was showcasing my designs at the Festival of Quilts at the Birmingham NEC arena. And from sitting at my stand for four days I decided to do some embroidery whilst sitting there. And now I finally finished my little sample.
The Beginning
Hello all. My name is James McGarvey, but you can call me Jamie (as we are all friends :) ). I am a recent graduate from the Glasgow School of Art Textile department specialising in embroidery and I decided to start a blog to showcase my work, my inspiration and my world around me. I hope you will join me in exploring my world.
